Lanyard, Knife, M2 pocket knife.
This lanyard, made from light green parachute cord, is the type issued with the M2 switchblade knife issued to U.S. paratroopers in WWII. The lanyard attaches to the knife bale at one end and the other loop is attached to the shoulder strap on the jump jacket, to prevent loss of the M2 Switchblade Knife while using it to cut the parachute shroud lines.
