Dagger, Push, British, ROBBINS DUDLEY, WWI
Nice genuine WWI British trench knife, manufactured by Robbins Dudley. The cast aluminium handle features a guard designed for protecting the middle, ring and little fingers, while the forefinger takes place above the blade. The latter has a double fuller on each side. Being a thrusting weapon only, the edges of the present type are not sharp.
Various fighting knives were produced by the above-mentioned manufacturer to meet the needs of the Tommy on the frontline: intended for being used in the manner of a knuckle duster, this private purchase 'push dagger' could be an effective weapon of last resort in case of close quarter combat. Some of these knives were still in use among elite troops during the Second World War -- e.g. commandos and paratroopers.
Comes in its original leather scabbard with leg strap.
Nice homogeneous set, in very good overall condition. Blade length: 4.3in.
