Genuine WWII British Emergency Ration, intended for use when out of reach of any other food. Made up of about 0.3 pound of solid, vitamin-enriched chocolate containted in a sealed tin box, this particular type of ration was only issued on the occasion of special operations -- one single box per person.

It was not to be eaten, except by order of an officer -- either chewed in small pieces or ground up and mixed with hot water to make a sustaining drink. Distribution and use of the Emergency Ration decrease from 1944 onwards, following the introduction of the 24-Hour Ration.

Very good overall condition.
