Genuine WWII British Small Pack, 1908 Pattern, manufactured by B.H.G. Ltd. and dated 1940. This standard issue webbing haversack features two internal compartments intended for personal equipment. Troops would carry it either as a backpack thanks to detachable suspenders (not included here), or as musette bag thanks to a single sling -- as seen here.
Despite the introduction of the 1937 Pattern equipment, the 1908 Pattern was still produced in the early 1940s, being mostly issued to territorial battalions. This early version of the Small Pack was also carried over the shoulder by despatch riders.
Excellent overall condition; the carrying strap was manufactured by S.&.P. Ltd. in 1944.
