Genuine WWII US Army M1910 T-shovel canvas cover, British-made, dated 1943. This type was attached to the M-1936 belt, M-1928 haversack or assault jacket.
In very good overall condition, the present cover features name Burkes James A. and ASN 14138677 handwritten on the reverse.
James Albert Burkes was born on June 6, 1923 in Randolph, Alabama and joined the US Army Air Corps on September 15, 1942. He went on to serve with the Air Forces and deployed to Europe with the Hq. Squadron, 84th Service Group, 9th Air Force. He was discharged on October 21, 1945 as a Private First Class and passed away on May 11, 1960.
