Scarce genuine WWII Canadian shoulder title, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles. To be worn on the sleeves of the battledress blouse, printed version. NOS condtion.
Recruited in Manitoba, this elite regiment, which had fought during the Northwest Rebellion 1885 and in South Africa in 1899-1900, fought valiantly again during the Great War.
On June 6, 1944, the 'Little Black Devils' landed in the first wave on Juno Beach (Mike Red) as part of the 7th Canadian Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division and kept fighting throughout the whole Battle of Normandy, participating in violent actions against the 12. SS-Panzerdivision 'Hitlerjugend' at Putot-en-Bessin.
