Nice genuine WWII Canadian battledress blouse, 1939 Pattern.
Manufactured by Master Craft Uniform Co. Reg'd in Quebec City, Provice of Quebec. Size 10. Date is illegible.
The present jacket, of the type intended for other ranks, features the following cloth insignia: Lieutenant rank insignia, Royal Canadian Artillery titles, 'Canada' nationality shoulder titles, 2nd Infantry Division insignia, service chevrons on the lower right sleeve (five years of service, including one year before September 9, 1939), and medal ribbons (1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star).
Complete and in very good overall condition despite some moth damage on the left sleeve and in the lower part of the right breast pocket. The name tag still present in the right sleeve indicates that it once belonged to some W.G. Johanneson.
William Gillis Roy Johanneson was born on July 26, 1920 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to an English mother and an Icelandic father, and volunteered in the Canadian Army in 1940. He went on to serve with the Royal Canadian Artillery and deployed to Europe. He passed away on December 18, 2018.
