Grouping, Officer Candidate Robert Yunker, Co. B, 3rd Platoon, TCOCS
Rare genuine WWII US Army corpus of documents, which belonged to some Officer Candidate Robert J. Yunker and includes the following items:
- Class "A" Pass issued at Camp Hood, Texas to Private Robert J. Yunker, ASN 36633915;
- Enlisted Man's Pass issued to the above-mentioned GI and valid May 29-31, 1943;
- Combination Scorebook, on the front cover of which last name Yunker has been written;
- typed letter sent to Officer Candidate Robert J. Yunker by Colonel Wilton B. Moats, commanding officer of 13th Ordnance Battalion, Camp Hood, Texas -- envelope postmarked on September 1st, 1943;
- Christmas card issued to personnel of the Third Army by Lieutenant General George S. Patton on December 25, 1944;
- handwritten letter set to Mrs. T.N. Yunker by some Mrs. W.J. Moss -- envelope postmarked on December 29, 1944;
- undated newspaper clipping, which quotes the laudatory comments made by Robert J. Yunker about the Transportation Corps.
Nice homogeneous lot, in good overall condition.
Robert John Yunker was born on January 19, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois and deployed to Europe with the US Army. He married some Edith Gertrud Wahl, a German citizen, on February 8, 1946 in Munich, Bavaria. He chose to pursue a military career and eventually retired in June 1964 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He passed away on November 16, 1983.
