Chester Frank Czyz was born on September 30, 1917 in Syracuse, New York and joined the US Army on March 20, 1942. The list of passengers of attack transport USS St. Mary's (APA-126), as per March 21, 1945, indicates that he was transferred to 1st Platoon, Cannon Company, 306th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division -- the ship, which then departed from Leyte, Philippines, was bound for Okinawa. He was discharged on December 4, 1945 as a Sergeant, and passed away on September 25, 1992.
