

Truly amazing piece of genuine WWII US Army parachute canopy, on which some 'jump wings' have been drawn above handwritten mention 502 "E" Co. Honor Roll, followed by a list of officers, NCOs and soldiers who lost their lives in action against the enemy during the main three campaigns the unit participated in.

A remarkable relic, of great historical significance, made by Technical Sergeant Ludwig John Labutka from his own reserve parachute.
Born on December 4, 1921 in Ford City, Pennsylvania, he joined the National Guard at 17, and was inducted into Federal Service on February 17, 1941 (ASN 20310818). He was awarded his 'jump wings' and went on to serve with Company E, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, deploying to Europe from September 5, 1943 to September 14, 1945 and participating in Operations Neptune and Market Garden, as well as the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged one week later as a Technical Sergeant, and passed away on April 3, 2011.
