Dog Tag, Pfc. Paul Liezak, 895th AAA (AW) Bn., MTO & ETO
Genuine WWII US Army dog tag, early Monel type, issued to Paul Liezak, ASN 33261659, vaccinated against tetanus in 1942, blood type B, Catholic.
Paul Liezak was born on March 16, 1916 in Belle Valley, Ohio and joined the US Army on April 11, 1942. He went on to serve with the 68th Coast Artillery (Anti-Aircraft) Regiment, deployed on November 2, 1942 and subsequently participated in every major campaign in which his unit was involved -- Tunisia, Sicily and mainland Italy. In June 1944, the 2nd Battalion was redesignated 895th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion and later landed in Southern France, prior to reaching Germany in the late stages of the war. Paul Liezak was repatriated on August 12, 1945 and discharged on October 20 of that year as a Private First Class. He passed away on August 28, 1988.
