Dog Tag & Documents, 1st Lt. Elisabeth Green, US Army Nurse Corps, 192nd General Hospital, ETO
Genuine WWII US Army Nurse Corps dog tag, issued to some Elizabeth M. Green, ASN N-773189, vaccinated against tetanus in 1944, blood type A, Protestant.
A corpus of various original documents, made up of the following elements, completes this lot:
- carbon copy of the delegation of authority drawn up by 2nd Lieutenant Elizabeth M. Green on February 28, 1944, appointing her father;
- list of female personnel relieved from assignment to quarters -- including 2nd Lieutenant Elizabeth M. Green -- issued at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin on March 9, 1944;
- new year's greetings from Colonel Marcellus A. Johnson, Jr. to the personnel of 192nd General Hospital for the year 1945;
- menu of the 192nd General Hospital Anniversary Dinner, dated April 26, 1945;
- repatriation certificate issued by the Transportation Corps authorities (New York Port of Embarkation) to 1st Lieutenant Elizabeth Green, 192nd General Hospital, indicating that she sailed from Southampton, England on August 26, 1945 aboard the HMS Queen Elizabeth.
Rare homogeneous set, in very good overall condition.
Elizabeth Magdalene Green was born on November 10, 1916 in Racine, Wisconsin in a Danish family and joined the US Army Nurse Corps on February 1st, 1944. She deployed to Europe with 192nd General Hospital and was discharged as a 1st Lieutenant on December 21, 1945, three months after marrying Jack Charles Hurley. She passed away on July 16, 2004.
