Quite good overall condition; retains its original shoulder sling, made in Britain by M.E. Co. and dated 1944.
Name Irvin N. Holtan and ASN 37278603 have been written under the flap.
Irvin Nordean Holtan was born on February 23, 1919 in Hayfield, Minnesota and joined the US Army in May 1942. He was awarded his 'jump wings' and went to serve with Mortar Platoon, Company D, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, jumping into Normandy with the 82nd Airborne Division on June 6, 1944. After participating in the Battle of the Bulge, he parachuted again on the occasion of Operation Varsity with the 17th Airborne Division. A recipient of the Bronze Star, he passed away on January 6, 2011.
