Interesting genuine WWII US M1942 machete, 17.9-inch blade.

Production markings are illegible due to oxidation; the grip has been covered with friction tape to improve handling properties.

Comes in its original OD 7 canvas scabbard, dated 1944 and on the reverse of which ASN 31303957 and initials E.J.B. have been written.

Earl John Burgess was born on January 21, 1918 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and joined the US Army on March 13, 1943. He was discharged on February 3, 1946 as a Sergeant, and passed away on April 13, 1996.
