

Great genuine WWII US Women's Army Corps OD wool visor hat, intended for being worn by Other Ranks with the winter service uniform. Introduced in 1942, this type, soon known as the 'Hobby Hat', was progressively superseded by the garrison cap. Size 22.
In very good overall condition, the present cap is complete with insignia, chinstrap and buttons. Label is dated March 20, 1943. Name Bailey and partial service number 0168 have been inked inside.
Lucille Bailey was born on January 18, 1922 in Yarmouth, Maine and joined the US Army on February 3, 1943 (ASN A-100168). She went on to serve as an air traffic controller with the USAAF at Orlando, Florida and was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Corporal. She married Oscar Joseph Welch on September 20, 1947 and passed away on March 21, 2016.

The Code provides additional penalties, including the confiscation of the items used or intended for committing the offence.
