Interesting genuine WWII French commemorative frame, containing a named certificate, three medals (Médaille des évadés, Croix du combattant, and Médaille commémorative de la guerre 1939-1945), as well as a studio portrait.
A somehow uncommon personal souvenir, in good overall condition.
Maximum dimensions of the frame: 14.5in x 18.5in.
Joseph, Adolphe Schwarzbach was born on October 14, 1913 in Adamswiller, German-annexed Alsace. Forcibly enlisted in the Wehrmacht in January 1944, he deserted on November 24 of that year and surrendered to American troops. Repatriated on December 15, 1944, he passed away on November 22, 1997.
