Rare and nice genuine WWII British sleeve gas detector, issued to airborne troops and first-wave units of the amphibious landings on D-Day.
This brown paper armband was impregnated with a chemical reagent intended for alerting its wearer in the case of a gas attack otherwise undetectable. This type was massively used by the US Army.
The present detector, bearing SL./D ink stamp and manufactured in March 1942, is in very nice condition.
