Cover, Protective, Individual, US Army, 1st Type, 1943

Genuine WWII US Army anti-vesicant cover in clear and dark green plastic.

After unfolding, this cover protected the soldier, along with his weapon and equipment. It was also convenient as an overhead cover in a foxhole or to line its bottom; covers were also used as shrouds in temporary cemeteries. On D-Day, every GI carried two covers with his gas mask.

Early production type (1943). Unopened condition.
