Genuine WWII German wooden crate, intended for carrying thirty offensive grenades of the 'egg' type (Eihandgranate 39).
The present case is in rather good, used condition and retains all original markings and most of its original paint. Latch and lid are in working order. The inner structure is missing. The cord handle is fragile.
Markings visible on the labels indicate that the original contents were packed on June 28, 1944.
Found in Normandy.
