Chest Insignia, 86th Transport Squadron, 27th Transport Group, Leather

Superb reproduction of the 86th Transport Squadron, 27th Transport Group chest insignia. Hand painted on a piece of leather. 

Activated in the spring of 1943, it is one of the original squadrons of the 27th Transport Group, tasked with providing air transport for members of the 8th Air Force in England.

This insignia (diameter 12.5 cm) was worn by C-47 pilots on their A-2 leather jackets.
