Grouping, Pfc. Archie Harrison, 23rd Inf. Regt., 2nd Infantry Division, WIA, Ardennes
Rare genuine WWII US Army grouping, which belonged to Technician 4th Grade Archie O. Harrison, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, and includes the following artefacts:
- Bronze Star with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster coming in its case along with lapel badge;
- Purple Heart coming in its case along with lapel badge;
- Good Conduct Medal;
- ribbon bar with two ribbons -- Bronze Star with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and Purple Heart;
- ribbon bar with three ribbons -- Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and WWII Victory Medal;
- ribbon bar with one ribbon -- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Stars;
- Combat Infantryman Badge hallmarked Sterling;
- Marksman Badge with Rifle clasp;
- 2nd Infantry Division shoulder sleeve insignia;
- 23rd Infantry Regiment distinctive unit insignia;
- lot of three collar disks -- two of them bearing initials 'U.S.' and one adorned with the crossed rifles of the Infantry;
- pair of Technician 4th Grade rank insignia;
- three Overseas Service Bars.
Name Archie O. Harrison has been engraved on the reverse of the three above-mentioned medals. Some U.S. Veterans of Foreign Wars pin badge completes this homogeneous set, in very good overall condition.
Archie Overton Harrison was born on February 11, 1925 in Waco, Texas and joined the US Army on March 14, 1944 (ASN 38682100). He went on to serve with 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, where he was wounded by shrapnel in January 1945, during the Battle of Bulge, near St. Vith, Belgium. Discharged as a Private First Class in December of that year, he passed away on January 22, 2015.
