Rare genuine WWII US Army grouping, which belonged to Private Peter Marquart, Company K, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, and includes the following items:
- Catholic liturgical booklet, My Military Missal, by Father Stedman; edited in 1942 for servicemen of all branches of the Armed Forces; complete (128 pages); personal details written inside indicate that the present missal belonged to Private Peter Marquart, ASN 37567373;
- corpus of documents related to his service, such as a couple of telegrams, his discharge certificate, immunization register, and other paperwork;
- Purple Heart Medal, coming in its original case along with ribbon bar and lapel badge.
Peter Marquart was born on July 14, 1922 in Strasburg, North Dakota and joined the US Army on June 1st, 1943. He went on to serve with Company K, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, was wounded by shell fragment in the left thigh on July 12, 1944 in the vicinity of Saint-Lô, Normandy, France and suffered from trench foot in February 1945. Discharged on January 1st, 1946 as a Private First Class, he passed away on January 2, 2010.
