Genuine WWII US Bronze Star Medal, coming in its original case along with ribbon bar and lapel badge.
This nice homogeneous set, which is in very good overall condition, once belonged to Staff Sergeant Demetrius B. Anagnostis, Company E, 502nd PIR, 101st Airborne Division.
Two photographs of the above-named GI (original prints) and a newspaper clipping (obituary) complete this great lot.
Demetrius Basil Anagnostis was born on March 7, 1924 in Staten Island, New York to Greek parents and joined the US Army on January 17, 1943 (ASN 42062115). He was soon awarded his 'jump wings' and went on to serve with Company E, 502nd PIR, 101st Airborne Division, deploying to Europe and parachuting in Normandy on D-Day. He was discharged on January 18, 1946 as a Staff Sergeant, and passed away on March 27, 1995.
