Knife, Fighting, Kinfolks, with Theater-made Scabbard, COX George Kuczma, US Navy, Seabees, Guadalcanal
Interesting genuine WWII US fighting knife, manufactured by Kinfolks. The grip of the present knife, which is in much used condition, has been entirely taped and the pommel cap is missing.
Comes in its original theater-made scabbard, made up of two pieces of leather lined with two metal sheets and assembled together with a total of 14 rivets; a belt loop has been cut through the upper part of the sheath. The locket features the following hand-engraved inscription: Made for George Kuczma by Brother John - Love & Luck.
George Kuczma was born on December 28, 1916 in a Polish family in Shutesbury, Massachussetts and joined the US Navy on October 26, 1942 (service number 666-90-67). It seems that he deployed to the Pacific as a Coxswain with a Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) and participated in the campaign of Guadalcanal. He passed away on February 16, 2000. John was his big brother.
