Genuine WWII US RH-36 combat knife, manufactured by PAL Cutlery Co. and hallmarked on the left side of the ricasso, featuring a 6.1-inch 'Bowie' blade and dull-metal pommel. The grip is fashioned out of leather washers.
This is one of the various hunting knives purchased by the government -- or privately bought -- prior to the introduction of the M3 Trench Knife. Issued to all branches of service: Army, Navy, Marine Corps...
Comes in its original russet leather scabbard (snap fastener in working order), which retains its leather lace. Name Don Carter and various sinograms have been painted on the sheath, thus indicating that the former owner once deployed to the CBI or the PTO.
A nice homogeneous set in good, used condition.
