Helmet, M1, Fixed Loops, FIRESTONE Liner, 100th Naval Construction Bn., Seabees, PTO
Genuine WWII US M1 helmet, front seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord, shell number 305A. Original canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook.
Comes with its original liner, manufactured by Firestone, retaining its khaki cotton web suspension and neckband, russet leather sweatband and plain A washers. The leather chinstrap is still present but its cam-over buckle is damaged.
Various markings have been stenciled in black paint on the outer surface of the liner -- the famous worker bee at the front, and inscription 100th Batt. at the rear, placed above mention Seabees in both cases. The 100th Naval Construction Battalion deployed to the Marshall Islands and in the Philippines.
Nice homogeneous set, in quite good overall condition.
