Genuine WWII US M1 helmet, front seam and fixed bales, manufactured by McCord, shell number hardly legible. Original canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook.
Comes with its original liner, manufactured by Westinghouse, complete with khaki cotton web suspension, russet leather sweatband, OD-painted A washers and leather chinstrap. Name N.K. Boone has been inked on the sweatband several times.
Neil Keith Boone was born on November 1st, 1923 in Forney, Texas and joined the US Navy on October 10, 1942. He trained as a Corpsman and went on to serve with various Fleet Marine Force units in North Carolina and other places. He was discharged in 1945 as a Pharmacist's Mate 2nd Class and passed away on March 25, 2000.
Nice homogeneous set, in quite good overall condition.
