

Genuine WWII US Navy M1 helmet, front seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord. Shell number 2[...]9B. The early production canvas chinstrap, fitted with brass hook and buckle, features handwritten mention Dr. Carpenter.
Comes with its original liner, manufactured by Inland -- khaki cotton web suspension and neckband, russet leather sweatband (damaged), and plain A washers.
Various inscriptions are visible on the suspension and sweatband, indicating that the present helmet once belonged to some Dr. M.G. Carpenter, a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy Medical Corps who deployed on Guadalcanal in 1943.
Rare homogeneous set in quite good, worn condition.
