Nice genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet liner, of the synthetic resin-coated, compressed-fiber type manufactured by Westinghouse.
The outer surface has been adorned with a 1st Lieutenant rank insignia, painted under the 8th Infantry Division emblem (decal).
The inner assembly retains its khaki cotton web suspension, russet leather sweatband, and OD-painted A washers.
Quite good, worn condition.
