Helmet, M1, Fixed Loops, Naval Amphibious Forces, Blue Band, D-Day
Genuine WWII US Navy M1 helmet, front seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord (shell number is illegible).
Original early production canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook. Most of the outer surface of the shell has been covered with a layer of blue-grey paint. The lower part shows a dark blue tone typical of the naval amphibious forces which landed in Normandy on D-Day. Initials USN have been stenciled on the front.
Comes with its original liner, manufactured by Mine Safety Appliances, fitted with khaki cotton web suspension and neckband. The color pattern of the outer surface is rather similar to the steel helmet -- blue-grey painted, dark blue band in the lower part, and initials USN on the front.
Rare and nice homogeneous D-Day set, in good overall condition.
