Genuine WWII US Navy M1 helmet, front seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord -- no shell number visible.
Early production canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook.
All surfaces have been covered with a layer of blue-gray paint, while the remnants of some yellow-painted Lieutenant (Junior Grade) rank insignia can be seen on the front.
The present shell comes along with its liner, manufactured by Firestone and retaining all original elements -- khaki cotton web suspension and neckband, russet leather sweatband, OD-painted A washers; a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) rank insignia has been painted in yellow on the front, too.
Nice homogeneous set, in good overall condition.
