Grouping, Cpt. Nathaniel King, 377th PFAB, 101st Airborne Division, Iraq, 2003
Rare genuine US Army grouping, which belonged to some Captain Nathaniel L. King, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, who participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
The present set includes his full Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU) -- jacket, trousers and visor hat -- as well as his combat helmet.
Two personal souvenirs complete this interesting lot: a fur hat of the Russian Armed Forces, and a truly amazing helmet of the Fedayeen Saddam.
This paramilitary organization, created in 1995 and led by Uday Hussein (Saddam's first son), was one of the few formations which conducted actual armed resistance against the American invasion of Iraq in 2003. Made in black fiberglass, its shape is directly based on the helmet worn by Darth Vader, the iconic villain of the Star Wars series.
Quite an uncommon lot, which sheds new light on some rather obscure period of our recent miltary history.
Nathaniel Lee King was born on December 11, 1974 in Frankfurt, Germany and joined the US Army on November 22, 1997 upon graduation from university. A recipient of the Bronze Star, he deployed to Iraq twice, and passed away on April 8, 2006 following head injuries sustained in a training jump at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
