The present 'Sweetheart' type insignia is made up of a blue star bearing the glider-and-wings assembly. Manufactured by Galawood-Roth in New York. Pin back.
Based on the Parachutist's Badge design, the actual Glider Badge, which was authorized on June 2, 1944, was to be awarded to GIs upon completion of glider unit training course -- or following their participation in at least one combat mission.
