Trousers, Combat, Winter (Tanker Bib), US Army, Medium, 1942

Great genuine WWII US Army winter combat trousers, wool-lined twill, with a zippered fly opening slightly off-center. Tightening of ankles is allowed by laces, unfortunately one lace has been cut at each ankle.

Often worn by tank crews and motorcyclists, the so-called 'tanker' jacket and bib soon became popular with officers of various branches of service, not to mention paratroopers of the 504th PIR, fighter pilots, and Naval Beach Battalions on D-Day. Warmer than the A-2 jacket and more comfortable, the jacket was made of the same material as the trousers, featuring the wool blanket type lining.

Near mint, unissued condition. Tag still present. All zippers are in working order. Size: Medium and dated March 6, 1942.
