Coat, Wool, Serge, S/Sgt. William Dunn, 70th Infantry Division, ETO
Nice genuine WWII US Army Other Ranks wool serge off-duty jacket, which belonged to Staff Sergeant William E. Dunn, Jr., Battery B, 882nd Field Artillery Battalion, 70th Infantry Division.
The present jacket retains the following insignias: 70th Infantry Division shoulder sleeve insignia, Staff Sergeant rank stripes, US and Artillery collar disks, 'Ruptured Duck', medal ribbon (European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Battle Stars), Overseas Service Bars, and Service Stripe. Name W.E. Dunn and laundry number D-0419 are clearly visible in the collar.
William Edward Dunn, Jr. was born on July 29, 1921 in Clarion, Iowa and joined the US Army on February 17, 1942 (ASN 18070419). He was discharged on October 18, 1945 and subsequently made a career in the US Air Force, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He passed away on May 13, 1977.
