Great genuine WWII US Army regulation 'Ike Jacket' of the type introduced in April 1944, which belonged to Private First Class Glenn N. Stiarwalt, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division.
This amazing jacket retains all its original insignias: 5th Infantry Division shoulder patch, Private First Class rank stripes, US and Infantry collar disks, 2nd Infantry Regiment distinctive unit insignias, 'Ruptured Duck', Combat Infantry Badge, medal ribbons (Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Battle Stars), Marksman Badge with Rifle bar, and Overseas Service Bars. Label dated June 9, 1944, size 38L. Name Glenn N. G.N. Stiarwalt and ASN 36780974 have been handwritten inside.
Very good overall condition, complete with all original buttons. A khaki cotton necktie featuring name Glenn N. G.N. Stiarwalt and ASN 36780974 completes this lot.
Glenn Noper Stiarwalt was born on March 30, 1912 in Good Hope, Illinois and joined the US Army on January 8, 1944. He went on to serve with the 2nd Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, where he was wounded by shrapnel in his wrist in October 1944. He was discharged as a Private First Class on November 21, 1945 and passed away on March 6, 1992.
