Genuine WWII US Navy M1 helmet, front seam and swivel loops, manufactured by Schlueter, shell number 820A. Original 2nd pattern canvas chinstrap with steel buckle and hook.
The outer surface of the shell has been covered with a layer of light grey paint. Some white insignia was subsequently stenciled on the front, made up of digit 1 between initals RA in a circle (diameter: about 4 inches). Number 12 has been painted in white at the rear.
Comes along with its original liner, manufactured by Westinghouse, which retains its khaki cotton web suspension and neckband, as well as its blackened-brass A washers. The leather sweatband has almost entirely come apart. Name Ogden has been written on the outer surface.
