Knife, Fighting, MK 2, ROBESON SHUREDGE, US Navy, with Scabbard and Whistle, Ens. Robert Strause, USS YLS-302, PTO
Genuine WWII US Navy Mark 2 fighting knife, manufactured by Robeson Shuredge and hallmarked on the ricasso.
Comes in its original bakelite scabbard manufactured by B.M. Co. and marked USN MK 2; snap fastener of the securing strap in working order.
A black plastic whistle (operational) bearing mentions US Navy and Made in USA has been attached to the sheath, which also retains a theater-made name tag: Ens. RV Strause.
Rare homogeneous set in quite good, used condition.
Robert Valliere Strause was born on September 23, 1921 in Oak Park, Illinois and received his commission in 1943 (Ensign). He went on to serve aboard the USS YLS-302, a minesweeper which deployed to the Pacific. He passed away on December 6, 2016.
