Amazing genuine WWII USAAF AN-H-15 summer flying helmet, khaki cotton twill, standardised in April 1943 for both the Air Forces and the Navy.
Manufactured by Bradley Goodrich, Inc. and dated 1944. Size: Large.
Very good, worn condition; retains its chinstrap, ANB-H-1 receivers manufactured by Shure Brothers, wire, and PL-354 jack plug.
Name Makai has been written on the front, while some personal insignia has been painted above each receiver.
Steven Eugene Makai was born on November 7, 1921 in Trenton, New Jersey and joined the US Navy on September 3, 1942 (service number 651-04-29). He went on to serve aboard the USS Independence (CV-22, then CVL-22) from January 15, 1943 onwards and was still on the muster roll of the crew on December 31, 1945. Discharged on February 6, 1946 as a Radarman 3rd Class, he passed away on May 18, 1999.
