Pad, Back, Parachute, Seat, USAAF, 2nd Lt. Samuel Singer, USAAF
Genuine WWII USAAF seat type parachute back pad, intended for being attached onto the harness, featuring name Lt. S.H. Singer stenciled on it. Good overall condition.
This may correspond to Samuel Harold Singer, born on July 8, 1923 in New Orleans, Louisiana, who joined the US Army Air Corps on November 25, 1942 (ASN 18138081). After receiving his pilot's wings and a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant, he went on to serve at Harlingen Army Airfield, Texas, where aerial gunners were being trained, and was entrusted with the dangerous task of flying a B-26 Marauder towing flying targets for the young gunner students... He was discharged in 1945 and passed away on January 15, 2020.
