Genuine WWII photograph of B-24J Liberator 42-100206 'Liberty Belle', belonging to the 33rd Bombardment Squadron, 22nd Bombardment Group, 5th Air Force, which saw action in the Pacific.
On its 51st mission, on October 10, 1944, after bombing its target on Borneo (Indonesia) and sustaining heavy damage from anti-aircraft fire and Japanese fighters, the pilot, Lt. Joseph C. Tafaro, managed to make an emergency landing on the island of Batudaka. Safe and unharmed, the crew was rescued two days later by a US Navy PBY Catalina.
