Knapsack, 1st Type (Rivetted), Pfc. Edward Stark, Co. E, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Guadalcanal
Great genuine WWII US Marine Corps canvas knapsack, of the early-production rivetted type. This is the lower part of the haversack, which was mass-produced from 1942 onwards. No production markings visible.
The present bag is good overall condition and shows signs of light green paint camouflage. The inscriptions visible on various parts indicate that it once belonged to some E.L. Stark.
Edward Lawrence Stark was born on October 17, 1922 in Round Rock, Texas and joined the USMC February 13, 1942. He went on to serve with Company E, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division and deployed at Guadalcanal. He was discharged in January 1946 as a Private First Class and passed away on November 13, 2015.
