Amazing genuine WWII theater-made combat knife, based on a rifle bayonet. Single-edged, straight blade (length: 8.2in) and D-shaped handguard featuring two rows of four triangular points.
Comes in its original handcrafted leather scabbard, retaining its securing strap -- snap fastener is in working order -- a a cord intended for attaching the assembly onto the leg. Initials J.J.T. have been engraved on the front and rear of the sheath.
Nice homogeneous set in quite good, used condition, coming from the estate of Private First Class Joseph J. Thomas, Company A, 16th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division.
