Grouping, Sgt. Edward Malone, Co. D, 319th Eng. Regt., 8th Infantry Division, AEF
Scarce genuine WWI US Army grouping, which belonged to Sergeant Edward Malone, Company D, 319th Engineer Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, made up of the following artifacts:
- an M1917 Brodie helmet, hallmarked FS 75 and on the front of which the 8th Infantry Division insignia has been hand-painted -- leather chinstrap has come apart but comes along with this lot;
- a gas mask, complete with all accessories, coming in its original satchel, adorned with initials EM and the same painted version of the 8th Infantry Division insignia as the one visible on the helmet;
- a leather waist belt with pin buckle in working order;
- a small cloth bag with an American Red Cross tag bearing name J.M. Malone;
- a Bauer & Black first-aid packet in its original brass box (unopened condition);
- a toiletry bag, on which initials JM have been embroidered, containing a shaving mirror and a leather strap intended for sharpening a straight razor;
- a sewing kit containing thread, needles, safety pins, buttons and metal hooks;
- a single khaki puttee and a single wool mitt;
- a lot of various accessories: tobacco pouch (full), bullion 8th Infantry Division shoulder patch, Sergeant and First Sergeant rank stripes, pair of bullion War Service Chevrons, Discharge Chevron, collar discs (one bearing initials US and number 319, the other featuring the emblem of the Corps of Engineers with letter D), tunic button, veteran badge bearing name Edward Malone...
Homogeneous set in good overall condition, coming in a large green cotton cloth bag.
